Bob Willen
Bob Willen is a partner in A.T. Kearney and the leader of the public sector practice in North America. Bob has over fifteen years of industry and consulting experience, focusing on strategy, organization, general cost reduction, and supply chain issues for large commercial and Government/Department of Defense (DoD) clients.
Representative engagements include:
- Evaluation of sustainment requirements in future aircraft programs, and negotiation strategy and tactics leading to a contractual agreement with significant cost savings relative to projections for a major Government/DoD client
- Strategic insight and analysis of large, multi-year acquisition programs, plus reduction in program acquisition costs for a major Government/DoD client
- Process streamlining surrounding the deployment of government furnished equipment (GFE) for a major Government/DoD client
- Supply chain strategy to better meet evolving customer requirements and enhance growth for a global manufacturer
- Global program management, providing both strategic and tactical direction for a major worldwide operational initiative (focusing on distribution, logistics and procurement) leading to benefits of over US $2 billion for a global manufacturer
- Multiple supply chain and strategic sourcing projects, leveraging scale and transitioning from a local structure for a global manufacturer
Prior to joining A.T. Kearney, Bob worked at General Dynamics Space Systems, providing technical support for the Atlas family of space launch vehicles and various commercial business development activities.
Bob is a co-author of Rebuilding the Corporate Genome. The book explores how companies can gain advantage from the breakdown and reconfiguration of value chains. His continuing research interest focuses on how business capabilities are recognized and valued. He has been quoted in numerous publications, including the Financial Times, The Economist, Fortune, Supply Chain Technology News, and various other journals and periodicals.
Bob earned an M.B.A. from the Darden Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Virginia. Bob also holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin and earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
